Google Deepmind's Exodus of talent continues

There’s been some pretty major developments in our space of AI startup funding. It seems the Paris AI ecosystem will get another boost from Google DeepMind’s exodus. Also, Elon Musk’s A.I. play recently is said to have gotten $500 million (Bloomberg) in funding. All of this even as Sam Altman is chasing an A.I. chip network to compete against Nvidia.
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has secured $500 million in commitments from investors toward a $1 billion goal, which is nearly hard to imagine. It’s not clear if this occurred late in 2023 or early in 2024. xAI is therefore The company is discussing a valuation of $15 billion to $20 billion, though terms could still change in the coming weeks.
However our main story of the day is how Mistral and Kyuntai are getting company in Paris, France as an open-source AI center now in Europe. This is pretty fresh off the press, where a pair of scientists at Google DeepMind, the Alphabet Inc. artificial intelligence division, have been talking with investors about forming an AI startup in Paris.
The new startup will likely be called Holistic. The venture may be focused on building a new AI model. Scientists Laurent Sifre and Karl Tuyls, who have already given notice to leave DeepMind, have held discussions with investors about a financing round that could raise over 200 million euros ($217.84 million), the report said. The startup might have something to do with multi-agent Generative A.I.
