Bay Area Inno - Magic.Dev raises $23 million to create an AI software engineer

Hey Everyone,

If artificial intelligence can learn to write poems, it should also be able to write computer code. Not many people noticed this but here goes.

An AI startup called Magic building coding “coworkers”, claimed to have made a huge breakthrough.

The startup's model can now ingest up to 3.5M words and made an ‘active reasoning’ breakthrough similar to OpenAI’s Q* discovery. This was broken by The Information.

While Google released Gemma, ChatGPT had a meltdown and announced Sora, and Google Gemini had an ahistorical meltdown, there was a secret funding that I didn’t catch.

Former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman just invested $100 million into the company.

Magic is working on frontier-scale code models to build a coworker, not just a copilot.

I found this story really mysterious and intriguing.
